Walls of texts are definitely heavy and difficult to read, but I can tell you that your advice not to start with a big wall of text and following the rule of 1-3-1 ratio, makes me feel and suggests to me that the author has got nothing to say.
Because if the author had something to say, and especially if their subject is anything complex or well explored (and thus making their article worth the read), then they won't possibly be able to cram all that knowledge and info in three sentences long paragraph.
Like I said, in my case it gives me the impression the author has very little to say, or is being sensationalist/clickbait. So I'd take that advice with a grain of salt.
