The inability to be honest in relationships is always something that's bothered me, frankly. You're absolutely right that little white lies can help sustain relationships, because outwardly confronting someone about something can mean them getting offended in one way or another, then you feel unheard, then they take it out on you (their offense), then it can just snowball into hell.
But that is an absolutely annoying thing to do, and surely there must be something better to do, than just lie to people, because it's the only way to keep them at bay. Makes you want not to be in a relationship, to be honest.
