In my days blotters were already out of practice, but one of my teachers taught us how to use it, which flt like an interesting experiment to me, just to know about what came before us.

But in truth, I was fine with this dying off, and I was fine with progress replacing this. The piece I quoted in my article was more about technology scare and fear of change in truth, rather than just fear of job loss, but in truth these two are intertwined.

And yes, like I said I have seen paper blotters, and was taught how write with it, and that's why I thought this was an invention best left in the past. Because indeed it was messy, I didn't enjoy having ink all over my hands, I felt it was unclean and distracting and all over the place, and didn't leave space to focus on writing.

Nowadays, as much as I like handwriting, and I do it occasionally to reconnect with it, I sincerely prefer typing and find it more optimal, because I'm an extremely fast typer and that suits me. It follows almost exactly the rhythm of my thoughts, making it that I can think and type at the same time, and that's great.

I'm glad that you're complaining about blotters as well. In another comment, you've essentially said, that people must adapt to inconveniences to survive. But I must absolutely disagree. You're right that I don't provide a very clear course of action on the how, and so that leaves people bereft of real options they can take, and that's a frustrating read to say the least. But I disagree that one has to self-sacrifice to this extent and like this for the sake of survival, because at the end of the day, some things are simply not worth it. Life stops being enjoyable, if it's only ever filled with things you detest.

So I'm glad that least on this small subject, something that isn't tied to your survival, we're able to agree on the benefits of progress, rather than on the loss of job positions, over technology and things that are "outdated".
