In a way yes, again I’m not sure how Medium’s algorithm works, but all algorithms (on socials, at least), work more or less the same in that they prioritise deep and passionate engagement. If someone actively engages with something you do, there’s just a distinctive way to see that someone liked what you did that the algorithm picks up on. It’s just that unfortunately it doesn’t necessarily pick up on simple liking I feel, or maybe it does so slowly (growth is slower that way). Regarding Medium I feel like there is an issue with distribution. My best advice for you isn’t actually to switch up what you do because of lack of reception, but to refine it instead. Trying new things is fine, but constantly reinventing yourself because you don’t see the results you want will only lead you to twist yourself around in ways that aren’t you, and that’s not necessary either. That being said, I do believe there is more that goes into it, such as the classics of a good headline, etc. After all, your headline did catch my interest and it made me read the whole article, as it happened to be my editing day, because I knew from the start that I had something to contribute to it. So, there you go.
