I don't think accessibility is something that should stop, just something that needs to be worked around. To this day, I'll still buy physical copies of something I love, but do you know how rare that is? Sometimes I only just passably like something or I'm only curious about it, and a digital download, feels unnatural, but is enough for that. Back then, you'd have to permanently purchase the book or movie, before you've discovered it, and even if you didn't like it or know you like it yet. If I love it, I'll gladly give my money to the author because I want them to thrive on something that touched me so much and that I favour so much. Beyond it, I see little incentive to care. Subscription models may be annoying, but they're one of those workarounds, and it's wishable for the industry to get even more crafty. This is also why I like to buy directly from the artist as well, and like it when I see an artist somewhere on bandcamp, for instance.
