I completely agree on the open source argument, there's definitely no arguing there. It's just that Linux really needs to take it a step further to really be useable. I personally would not be able to switch until I have a guarantee that most software can be installed on it, which means that Linux has to be much more spread out than it is right now for the entire industry and tech world to cater to it.
I have been however tempted to give Ubuntu a go ever since I heard about it, and I'm certain some of these days it just might happen.
